Veljko Klenkovski

Veljko Klenkovski was born in 1975 in Pančevo. He completed his secondary music education at the Kornelije Stanković Music School in Belgrade, after which he continued his studies at the Georges Bizet Conservatory in Paris. At the Paris CNR, he graduated with the highest honors. Two years later, he obtained a Master’s degree at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, and in 2008 he earned an additional Master’s degree at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. He completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade and is the recipient of the Bruno Brun Award for achieving the highest academic success among doctoral graduates.

Klenkovski is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions, including first prizes at the Leopold Bellan International Competition in Paris, the Picardy International Competition, and the Federal Competition in Ljubljana, as well as a First Special Prize at an International Competition in Paris and a Third Prize at the International Music Youth Competition in Belgrade. He has performed as a soloist with the Royal Orchestra of Brussels, the Philharmonie der Nationen (Germany), the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTS Symphony Orchestra, the Niš Symphony Orchestra, the Belgrade ensemble Dušan Skovran, the Strings of St. George Orchestra, the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra, the Harbin Symphony Orchestra, and many others.

Since 2011, he has been a member of the ensemble Gradilište. He is the founder and a member of the Belgrade Philharmonic Wind Quintet as well as the Belgrade Wind Trio, with which he performs extensively in Serbia and abroad, including notable appearances in Spain, Russia, China, Germany, France, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, the United States, and India.

Until 2002, Veljko Klenkovski performed as principal clarinetist of the Philharmonie der Nationen in Germany, as well as principal clarinetist of the Madlenianum Chamber Opera and the RTS Orchestra in Belgrade. Since 2002, he has been the solo clarinetist of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, and since 2015 he has also served as principal clarinetist of the National Theatre Orchestra in Belgrade. He has performed with the Bruno Walter Symphony Orchestra, the Cyprus National Orchestra, as well as orchestras from Harbin and Tianjin.

Klenkovski is also actively engaged in pedagogical work. He has given masterclasses in France, Serbia, Slovenia, China, Croatia, Russia, and Montenegro, and regularly serves as a jury member at numerous national and international competitions. He is a recipient of the October Award and an award for pedagogical excellence.

Since 2016, he has been working as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. Veljko Klenkovski is a Buffet Crampon and Vandoren Artist and performs on Buffet Crampon Legende instruments.
