Stevan Jović

Stevan Jović (1986) was born in Šabac, where he completed his primary and secondary education at the “Mihailo Vukdragović” Music School in the class of Prof. Marko Erdevički and Prof. Nenad Kondić. He graduated in guitar from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in the class of Prof. Zoran Krajišnik. He is the recipient of the “Mali Princ” award for the best student of the Department of Music Arts. He completed his Master’s and specialist studies at the Faculty of Music, Jacobs School of Music in the USA, in the class of maestro Ernesto Bitetti.

He performs as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent performances include concerts “100 Years of Disney” with the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra at MTS Hall in Belgrade, as well as classical recitals at the Matica Srpska Library in Novi Sad, the 7th Guitar United Fest in Sarajevo, the 22nd International Blues & Jazz Festival in Šabac, the 16th Vojvodina Guitar Festival in Novi Sad, the OmniMusica 2022 festival in Tuzla, the Petnica Guitar Camp, as well as chamber concerts with the Novi Sad Guitar Quartet at City Hall, the Svilara Cultural Center, the Banski Dvor Concert Hall in Banja Luka, etc.

He performs in a duo with Marko Erdevički (“Šabac Guitar Duo”). They have performed at Håkonshallen in Bergen, Norway, the Museum of the National Theatre in Belgrade, the Multimedia Center Hall of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, and the Šabac Library.

As a jury member, he has participated in numerous national and international festivals, including the Vojvodina Guitar Festival in Novi Sad, the Valjevo Guitar Competition, Guitar United Fest in Sarajevo, Ubuntu Guitar Fest in Banja Luka, the Festival of Music and Ballet Schools of Serbia, the International Guitar Competition “Alirio Diaz” in Rust, Austria, the Transilvania Guitar Festival in Romania, etc.

Since 2013, he has been engaged in composing and arranging. His most notable works include Balkan Capriccio, Prelude and Fugue 1804 (a homage to Karađorđe), and Wonderland.

The Guitarists Association of Vojvodina has published three of his books: the history of the guitar Guitar Through the Centuries (2017), and collections of compositions Maestri 1 (2021) and Maestri 2 (2022).

Stevan Jović teaches guitar at the “Isidor Bajić” Music School and at the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad.
