Born in Belgrade, Jasmina Trumbetaš studied Slavistics at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade while simultaneously studying singing with Prof. Predrag Andrović at the Kosta Manojlović Music School. She later continued her vocal studies with prima donna Radmila Bakočević, graduating and completing her Master’s degree at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

During her studies, she was repeatedly awarded as the best student in the solo singing department and received scholarships and awards from the funds of Biserka Cvejić, Petar Konjović, Jelena Mihajlović, and Aleksandar Trifunović. She was a finalist of the Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Belgrade in 1993, where she received a Special Prize, and in 2000 she won First Prize at the Spontini–Pergolesi Competition in Italy.

She has been engaged with the Opera of the National Theatre in Belgrade since 1993 and became a Principal Soloist in 2002. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Theatre Award for outstanding achievements in the roles of Marguerite (Faust, 2003), Leonora (La forza del destino, 2009), Aida (Aida, performed as part of the celebration of 1700 years of the Edict of Milan in Viminacium, 2013), and Manon Lescaut (Manon Lescaut, 2020).

In 2009, the Association of University Professors and Scientists of Serbia (UPNS) awarded her the Prof. Dr. Vojislav K. Stojanović Prize for exceptional artistic achievements. For her outstanding contribution to the work of the Opera of the National Theatre in Belgrade during the 2014/2015 season, she received a public commendation and the Golden Badge for 20 years of service. The Annual UMUS Award (2015) was presented to her for the role of Tosca, recognized as the best musical performance of 2014, with her Tosca declared the event of the season. She is also the recipient of the Madlenianum Jubilee Award for 20 years of artistic collaboration (2017), the Music Classics Award for Best Performer of the Year (2018), and the Seal of the National Theatre (2021), awarded for a special contribution to the life and work of the National Theatre. In 2023, the Cultural and Educational Community of Belgrade awarded her the Golden Beočug for her lasting contribution to the cultural life of the city.

Abroad, she has appeared in opera productions as Marguerite (Faust), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Aida, Leonora (Il trovatore), Leonora (La forza del destino), Tosca, Desdemona (Otello), and Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), as well as in concert performances in Italy, Germany, Greece, France, Portugal, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, England, Denmark, Norway, Israel, Slovenia, and other countries.

In productions of the Madlenianum Theatre, she has performed the roles of Elisetta (Il matrimonio segreto), Carolina (The Two Widows), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly). In November 2009, she appeared in the title role at the world premiere of the opera Hasanaginica by Rastislav Kambasković, conducted by Maestro Mladen Jagušt.

She is a long-standing member of UMUS and served as Artistic Director of the Opera of the National Theatre in Belgrade from the 2018/19 season to the 2021/22 season. She has collaborated with numerous domestic and international conductors and opera artists and has given a large number of concerts ranging from oratorios and sacred music to solo song recitals featuring German, Russian, French, Serbian, and other composers.

Her extensive operatic repertoire includes the roles of Micaëla (Carmen), Mimì (La bohème), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Leonora (Il trovatore), Leonora (La forza del destino), Aida (Aida), Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Adriana Lecouvreur, Desdemona (Otello), Elisabetta (Don Carlo), Tosca, Maddalena di Coigny (Andrea Chénier), Manon Lescaut, and Turandot.

Through her long-standing collaboration with the RTS Symphony Orchestra and Choir, she has performed an extensive concert repertoire including Requiems by Dvořák, Verdi, Mozart, Brahms, Bruckner, and K. Zečević; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Missa Solemnis; Rachmaninoff’s The Bells; Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater; Honegger’s King David; Resurrection by S. Hristić; Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass; The Endowments of Kosovo by I. Jevtić, and many other works.
