Vesna Križ was born in Slovenia and has been living in Sweden since 2010. She began playing the flute and piano at a very early age and, after completing music school in both instruments, pursued advanced studies in flute at the University of Ljubljana – Academy of Music, studying first with Professor Boris Čampa and later with Professor Matej Zupan, graduating in 1997.
She began her teaching career in 1989, guiding her students to numerous successes at national and international competitions and festivals. Many of her students are now professional musicians performing in orchestras in Slovenia and abroad. She has also served as a jury member at the TEMSIG music competition in Slovenia and has been recognized for outstanding achievements in music education.
Dedicated to musical and pedagogical excellence, she has attended masterclasses with renowned musicians, including Irena Grafenauer, Andrea Oliva, János Bálint, Barbara Gisler-Haase, Erwin Klambauer, and Emmanuel Pahud. Her career has been primarily focused on teaching and mentoring young musicians.
Since moving to Sweden in 2010, she has continued her pedagogical and performance activities. Committed to providing access to music education for children with special needs, she further trained in special pedagogy and successfully completed professional certification in this field. Currently, she teaches flute temporarily in Slovenia at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet in Ljubljana and at the Music School in Vrhnika. As a flutist and piccolo player, she occasionally collaborates with various orchestras and chamber ensembles, performing music ranging from classical to jazz. However, her greatest dedication remains in sharing her knowledge and passion for music with young musicians.
