Irina Vasović was born on October 25, 1962, in Saransk (Mordovia, Russia). She completed her primary music education in the domra and accordion departments and graduated from the Gnessin Secondary Music School in Moscow in 1982, studying string instruments and conducting. She earned her degree in 1988 from the Gnessin State Music Academy in Moscow as the top student of her class, winning prestigious competitions and performing as a soloist in Russia, Lithuania, and Mordovia.
After moving to Kragujevac, she worked as a music culture teacher and, since 1997, has been teaching tambura and mandolin at the “dr Miloje Milojević” Music School. Her students have won numerous awards at national and international competitions, including multiple first prizes at the “Artistic Tambura” and “Musical Spring” festivals. As a soloist and with the accordion orchestra, she has performed across Serbia and internationally (Italy, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina), earning awards at international festivals.
Professor Vasović is a regular member of juries at competitions in Serbia, the author of curricula for E-prima and A-bas prima tambura and mandolin, and a contributor to the accreditation of the tambura and mandolin study program at the Faculty of Philology and Arts, University of Kragujevac, where she has taught since 2023. She has also organized competitions and masterclasses, including sessions with Professor Natalia Lips from Moscow. For her outstanding pedagogical and artistic achievements, she has been awarded the Charter of the “dr Miloje Milojević” Music School and the Award of the Association of Music and Ballet Schools of Serbia.
Her pedagogical and artistic work has made a significant contribution to the promotion of the tambura and mandolin as artistic instruments, enriching their repertoire and interpretive possibilities.
